Two good paddle days. Yes I was still facing a head wind but I could still paddle. May 10th took me from the north end of the North Shore Mining Co. where I landed after paddling at night to the Temperance River 24 miles. I felt better now that I was getting on some miles. May 11th brought me from the Temperance River to the Cascade River. 19.5 miles according to GPS-that means more by water. On the way to the Cascade River I stopped at Lutson Resort, the oldest resort in Minnesota. This resort was originally the homestead of Charles Nelson, a Swedish immigrant who came to Duluth in 1881. In that time Charles was making his living as a fisherman, trapper, logger. I spent 2 hours looking at all the history here, and I ate a hot meal too.
